John Wall on possibly returning for Game 5: ‘If I can’t be myself, I don’t want to play’

John Wall remains questionable to return for Game 5 against the Hawks on Wednesday, but listening to him speak with reporters at the morning shootaround, it sounds as though he’ll need to be fully confident in his ability to contribute in order for him to make the decision to participate.

From J. Michael of CSN Washington:

Just in case anyone thinks John Wall has a strong chance of playing in pivotal Game 5 vs. the Atlanta Hawks tonight, it doesn’t seem likely. He will see a doctor before tipoff.

“I don’t know yet,” said Wall. “Able to do some dribbling yesterday and a little bit more today.” …

“If you’re not confident in your ability to do what you want to do there’s no point in playing,” Wall said. “Hopefully I can get some work in before the game and see early on what my mind-set is and how confident I am because I don’t want to go out there and not be able to help these guys.”

It seems like Wall is leaning toward sitting this one out, although if the doctor’s visit is positive, and if Wall can gain some confidence while testing the injury in a pregame workout, there remains a possibility that he could return for the critical Game 5 contest.
