Everyone needs motivation. And one way to get motivation in a playoff series is by playing up the “nobody believes in us” angle. That’s what the Clippers did to prepare for their first-round series against the Spurs. According to ESPN.com’s Arash Markazi, the Clippers players were all given printouts of predictions by major media outlets, including ESPN, Bleacher Report, USA Today and CBS Sports. The vast majority of these reporters picked the Spurs to win the series.

It’s a good tactic. My only problem with it is that three of the four of us at ProBasketballTalk also had the Spurs beating the Clippers and we weren’t deemed important enough to feature. What gives, Doc?
