George Karl and Chad Iske go way back.

Disturbingly back.

That’s Iske yelling in the video above while an assist for Karl’s Nuggets.

Now, they can recreate that scene in Sacramento.

Dei Lynam of CSN Philly:

Assistant coach Chad Iske is leaving the Sixers to become the associate head coach on George Karl’s bench in Sacramento, according to an NBA source.

Announcement: Play one-day fantasy basketball tonight! ProBasketballTalk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a $250,000 league for Thursday’s NBA games. It’s just $3 to join and first place wins $20,000. Starts tonight at 7pm ET. Enter now!

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports first reported the news.

This is a nice promotion and title for Iske, but here’s why it’s really important: It shows Karl’s power in Sacramento.

Whom Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé has enabled to control basketball operations is as unclear as ever with Chris Mullin’s departure – and it’s never been that clear. Is it vice president of basketball and franchise operations Vlade Divac? Is it general manager Pete D’Alessandro? Is it Karl?

Put a point in Karl’s ledger, because he clearly got his guy here. Karl also hires a lead assistant with no NBA head-coaching experience, which might give Sacramento pause about firing Karl midseason. Yes, we already have to consider that possibility.
