On Saturday, the Timberwolves announced that Ricky Rubio was going to undergo a procedure to clean up the left ankle that has been bothering him all season. Now, the team announced that the surgery was successful and he’s expected to make a full recovery. From the team’s press release:
The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced guard Ricky Rubio underwent successful diagnostic arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle. The surgery was performed this morning by Dr. Richard Ferkel of Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California. Rubio is expected to make a full recovery this summer.
Rubio played in just 22 games this season and put up solid numbers, averaging 10.3 points. 5.7 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game. But he’s never cracked 40 percent shooting from the field in a season (he shot 35.6 percent this year). Next year will be the first year of a four-year, $55 million extension he signed in October.
