LeBron James may be playing Friday night against the Celtics, but Kyrie Irving will not. The Cavs have ruled him out with a hip injury.

In all likelihood, this is nothing. The Cavs have already clinched both the Central Division title and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. They have nothing left to play for. Don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last game Irving sits out this season, or if James or Kevin Love also rest down the stretch.
Irving’s absence is a big break for the Celtics, who are still fighting for playoff position. They currently hold the seventh seed in the East, tied in record with the eighth-seeded Nets and two games behind the sixth-seeded Bucks.
