Blake Griffin may finally be nearing his return. After sitting out the Clippers’ last 14 games recovering from surgery to remove a staph infection in his right elbow, a team spokesman told InsideSoCal.com’s Robert Morales that Griffin could be on the court this Sunday, when the Clippers take on the Rockets.
A spokesman for the Clippers on Thursday told this newspaper it’s possible Blake Griffin could return Sunday when the Clippers host the Houston Rockets at Staples Center. If not, then Tuesday at home against the Charlotte Hornets would be the next opportunity.
The Clippers have gone 9-5 since Griffin went down, which is impressive given their contender-heavy schedule. Much of that credit goes to DeAndre Jordan, who has been playing out of his mind in the month since Griffin has been out. But getting the All-Star power forward back is going to be a huge help to the Clippers, who won’t have much hope in the playoffs without him.
