The JaVale McGee era in Boston is over before it began.
Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald:
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
That second season was obviously critical. The amount of the guarantee and whether it contained a team or player option would significantly impact McGee. The Celtics surely wanted to give themselves a chance at a bargain if they rehabilitated him. McGee could have been pushing for either a higher guarantee or the ability to become a free agent after this season.
Now, McGee, a free agent can turn to his numerous reported suitors.
And Brad Stevens can breathe a sigh of relief.
