Report: Derrick Rose’s injury not initially believed to be as serious as last season’s

Derrick Rose tore the meniscus in his right knee, which is the same injury he suffered last season.

Fewer than two months after that November 2013 injury, he was off crutches.

About four months after the injury, he was practicing with the Bulls.

About five months after the injury, he was riding a bike around D.C.

About seven months after the injury, he said he was ready to play NBA games.

About eight months after the injury, he was participating in Team USA’s camp.

About nine moths after the injury, he was playing in World Cup games.

And about 11 months after injury, he was playing regular-season games for Chicago.

That timeline should serve as a reference, but there are other factors.

K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune:

There’s obviously a big gap between “not as serious as ’13” and minor. At this point, it still seems most likely Rose will miss the rest of the season.

But, considering the circumstances, this still qualifies as good news.
