The full list of participants for the NBA’s All-Star Saturday night festivities will be announced on Thursday night, but you can expect MVP frontrunner James Harden to be part of the three-point shootout, according to the Houston Chronicle‘s Jonathan Feigen:
Rockets guard James Harden will be officially named to the field for the Foot Locker Three-Point contest tonight, according to two individuals that had been told that Harden would be invited.
Harden said recently that he would like to participate in the event Feb. 14 in Barclays Center, but added, “I have to start shooting better.” Harden, the Western Conference Player of the Month for December and January, has done that, making 47 percent of his 3s in his past 10 games.
Harden is fifth in the NBA in 3-pointers made per game, making 38.7 percent of his 3-pointers this season. Harden averages 27 points per game to lead the league in scoring.
“I’ve been working out back in the gym at night time, putting up extra shots,” Harden said on Thursday. “It’s a grind. It doesn’t stop. I enjoy the journey. I enjoy the grind. That motivates me and keeps me pushing every single game. The night before we played the Bulls I was in here. I’ll probably come back here tonight. It’s all about confidence. If you have confidence on the court, anything can happen.”
Other players slated to participate in the contest include Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Atlanta’s Kyle Korver and Portland’s Wesley Matthews.
