The fourth quarter has become Lillard Time as far as the Trail Blazers and their fans are concerned. That’s when Damian Lillard typically takes over, and often time wills his team to victory.
Lillard leads the league in fourth quarter scoring, and gave us another example of his late-game skill in this area during Monday’s win over the Kings.

Portland was leading by just one with under 40 seconds remaining, and Lillard surveyed the defense from the three-point line. As his teammate came up to set a screen, the Kings wisely moved to double Lillard, only he saw it coming and split the two defenders before they had a chance to get set. The lane was wide open, and Lillard finished with an emphatic one-handed slam.
It wasn’t all fun and games for Lillard on this night; he missed two of four free throws on ensuing possessions to leave the door open for Sacramento, and finished just 6-of-19 shooting. But this play demonstrates why he’s consistently one of the game’s most dangerous with the ball in his hands in the clutch.
