Details of Austin Rivers trade emerge: Suns get Reggie Bullock, Celtics get Shavlik Randolph

Austin Rivers is finally headed to play for his dad in Los Angeles. After an earlier report that the Suns were getting involved in the deal with the Clippers and Celtics, details have emerged via various reports.

Here are the core pieces of the deal, from’s Shams Charania:

The Orange County Register‘s Dan Woike reports that Clippers forward Chris Douglas-Roberts is also headed to Boston in the deal:

The Boston Herald‘s Mark Murphy reports that Douglas-Roberts will be waived by the Celtics once the deal is complete, and that the Celtics are also getting a 2017 second-round pick from the Clippers in return for Rivers.

And finally,’s Arash Markazi reports that the Clippers will look to trade point guard Jordan Farmar but more likely will waive him.

So, that’s a lot to digest. The Celtics got a pick out of it. Danny Ainge likes picks. For the Suns, it’s a free look at Bullock, a former first-round pick who hasn’t played much with the Clippers. There’s no reason for them not to do the deal.

As for the Clippers, this trade only underscores how much of a disaster Doc Rivers’ tenure as GM has been. They gave up two wings, their biggest position of need, and a future second-round pick, to trade for his son, who doesn’t fill a need for them at all. It’s just the latest in a line of catastrophic moves Rivers has made, most notably hard-capping the team with the signing of Spencer Hawes, who’s been awful.

We’ll see what the final trade looks like when the dust settles, but it’s not looking great for the Clippers.
