Kyrie Irving will return to Cavaliers lineup Wednesday vs. Rockets

With Kyrie Irving out of the lineup (along with some guy named LeBron James), the Cavaliers lost in Philadelphia, as the dismal Sixers earned their first home victory of the season.

James is still sidelined, but Irving is expected to return to the floor on Wednesday for a home contest against the Rockets.

From Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com:

Point guard Kyrie Irving will return to the Cavaliers’ starting lineup against the Houston Rockets after missing Monday’s devastating loss to the Philadelphia 76ers with a sore lower back.

On Jan. 2 at Charlotte is where Irving first felt his back stiffen up. Later in the game he fell on his back to make matters worse. Against the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 4, his back bothered him so much that he was unable to play in the fourth quarter.

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $300,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Wednesday’s NBA games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $30,000. Starts at 7pm ET on Wednesday. Here’s the FanDuel link.

Irving is averaging 20.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists in a career-high 37.8 minutes per game this season.

Meanwhile, J.R. Smith, acquired in Monday’s three-team trade that involved the Knicks and sent Dion Waiters to the Thunder, could be available tonight if the trade is finalized this afternoon as expected.
