Kevin McHale said Dwight Howard “won’t be back anytime soon.”
Otherwise, the Rockets are being vague about their center.
Howard missed a Nov. 19 game against the Lakers with a strained knee, and then he had plasma therapy the next day. Houston gave no timetable for his return, but a report emerged Howard might play a few days later. He didn’t and has remained out.
It’s getting a little concerning – and mysterious.
So, we’re taking any clues we can get about Howard’s status.
One sign that Dwight Howard (knee) could return soon: he took part in an intense workout Sunday, a source said.
Yahoo Sports also reported Howard might return a couple weeks ago, which didn’t happen. Though that was a different writer (Adrian Wojnarowski), it adds to the uncertainty of this information – especially because McHale is saying essentially the opposite.
The Rockets have gone 7-2 without Howard. They’re obviously better with him, but they’re surviving just fine as he recuperates. Logically, him missing significantly more time seems more likely, but this situation is pretty strange.
