The Oklahoma City Thunder have started the season 3-12 with reigning MVP Kevin Durant and superstar point guard Russell Westbrook sidelined with injuries. However, Thunder coach Scott Brooks has some good news this week: both stars have returned to practice, and Westbrook could make a return as soon as this week.
“This week, I don’t know what day, they’ll get evaluated and we’ll go from there,” Brooks said. “They’ll continue to go through this process and when they’re ready — 100 percent ready — they’ll play.”
Brooks wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Westbrook playing on Friday against the Knicks, although that would depend on how he looks this week in practice. Even if they’re a couple weeks out, it’s encouraging that Westbrook and Durant both seem to be progressing quickly in their rehab. The Thunder need them back, badly.
