Yesterday, a report indicated that the Miami Heat were preparing to sign center Hassan Whiteside. Now, that move is official, and veteran guard Shannon Brown is the casualty:

In five games with the Heat this season, Brown was averaging 4 points in 17.8 minutes per game. The next team he joins will be his ninth team in an eight-year career, which has also included stints with—deep breath—the Cavaliers, Bulls, Bobcats, Lakers, Suns, Spurs and Knicks.
Whiteside has put up big numbers with the D-League’s Iowa Energy but hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2011-12 season.
