Derrick Rose says hamstring is pain-free, still unsure whether he’ll play tonight at Jazz

Derrick Rose has played just five of the Bulls’ 13 games this season, and he’s missed the last four with a hamstring injury originally described as day-to-day.

But his return nears, as he’s overcome one major hurdle in the comeback process.

Nick Friedell of ESPN:

Anything Rose says about his injury is subject to unfair scrutiny, and this will surely rile up his critics. But every injury requires the same two things before a player can return:

1. The injury must heal.

2. The player must return to game shape after missing time.

This isn’t just Rose protecting himself for after basketball or even Rose protecting himself for the playoffs. It’s is going through that process just like everyone else.
