Brandon Jennings received a flopping warning from the league, for essentially doing nothing more than falling down after shooting a three during Wednesday night’s game against the Suns.
It must be a recent point of emphasis, because it’s the same type of play that Nick Young was similarly penalized for, even though it’s extremely difficult to determine whether or not either player chose to do this on purpose.
The focus of enforcing the anti-flopping rules should be on defensive players, because that’s where the highest percentage of these types of plays tend to occur. Guys shooting threes and then falling down with a defender nearby are the least of the league’s worries in this regard. If referees choose to call bogus fouls in these situations, they’re the ones who should be reprimanded — not the players.
