Kyrie Irving is beginning his fourth NBA season, and has never had a taste of the playoffs. His new Cavaliers teammate, Mike Miller, is entering his fifteenth season, and has been to the postseason plenty of times, including in each of the last four years. And, he was a member of the Miami Heat’s championship teams in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Miller was added because he can still shoot it, but also because of his veteran presence and leadership abilities — he’s been there before, and that was what Irving wanted to know about during Friday night’s competitive contest against the Bulls in Chicago.
“Is this, like, similar to what a playoff game feels like,” Irving asked Miller.
“Yeah, about a couple notches below,” Miller said.
You’ve got to love Irving’s show of honest innocence here, and barring a fairly crazy and unforeseen set of circumstances, it’s virtually guaranteed that he’ll get the chance to experience the postseason first hand this year.
