76ers sign Malcolm Lee, who could start at shooting guard

If you want to understand the NBA hierarchy, the Lakers are signing Kings’ rejects, and the 76ers are taking he Lakers’ rejects.

Malcolm Lee – who worked out with the Lakers – is heading to Philadelphia.

And could start there!

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

James Anderson, who was in over his head as a starting NBA shooting guard last season, left the 76ers for Europe. Philadelphia’s list of potential replacements is pretty thin. Tony Wroten? Alexey Shved?

There’s no reason Lee – who started 12 of his 16 games for the Timberwolves in 2012-13 – can’t compete. He got hurt that season, and he missed all of last year.

But when healthy, Lee is a solid defender. He’s athletic, though he can’t shoot. And he’s just 24.

He’s perfect for the tanking 76ers, and there’s room for him to developing in Philadelphia. Maybe even in the starting lineup.
