They did today.
The Chicago Bulls announced today the team has signed free agent guard/forward Ronnie Brewer for the remainder of the season.
Brewer spent 2010-11 and 2011-12 as a productive role player for the Bulls. Then, he bounced between the Knicks, Thunder and Rockets, increasingly struggling at every step of the way. Houston even waived him midway through this season.
Has the 29-year-old wing lost a step, or has he just struggled to find his niche outside Tom Thibodeau’s system? Chicago is obviously hoping for the latter, and if that’s the case, Brewer could help in the playoffs. He was a quality defender as recently as two seasons ago, even if his offense has never looked polished.
The Bulls can still sign another player or two before the playoffs, so Brewer might not be the end of their late-season tweaking. Mike James, anyone?
