Nets’ Jorge Gutierrez ejected for flagrant two foul on Bobcats’ Cody Zeller (VIDEO)

Midway through the fourth quarter of the Nets’ overtime loss to the Bobcats, Jorge Gutierrez came down with two hands on Cody Zeller, causing both players to come crashing to the floor.

The play was originally ruled a flagrant-one, but after the referees reviewed it, the ruling was changed to a flagrant-two which resulted in an automatic ejection for Gutierrez.

A takedown to the floor like that is almost always going to earn the more severe classification, and it’s tough to argue that Gutierrez didn’t deserve the flagrant-two there, even though his intent on the play was ultimately difficult to discern.
