Kevin Love records first career triple double in win over Jazz (VIDEO)

Given the gaudy numbers that Kevin Love has been known to put up, it’s a bit surprising that he hadn’t managed to record a triple-double performance until Saturday’s win over the Jazz.

Love finished with 37 points on 11-of-20 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists in what was an historic performance for his franchise.

From Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press:

Love’s 37 points were the most in a triple double in franchise history. It had 22 points in the third quarter. It had a career-high 10 assists. It had 12 rebounds. It happened in only 33 minutes.

“I thought at some point it would happen,” Love said. “I’ve been very close. Happy it was tonight and more happy we got the win.”

You can see why the rumors of Love leaving in free agency continue to surface. He’s a unique offensive talent that at some point should be a part of a championship contender, and Minnesota essentially has one more year to show Love that it can happen with his current team before he can choose free agency in advance of the 2015-16 season.
