Clippers trade Antawn Jamison to Hawks, Byron Mullens to 76ers

Antawn Jamison hasn’t filled the stretch-four role the Clippers hoped he would this season. He’s played in only one of the Clippers last 17 games (a 45-point win over the 76ers).

Though Jamison has just a minimum contract, that’s still more money than the Clippers need to spend on someone with no upside and no ability to help right now.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN:

The Hawks – hit hard by frontcourt injuries to Al Horford, Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon – have lost seven straight and fallen to seventh in the Eastern Conference. Jamison won’t be a savior, but if he helps them keep their playoff spot, that will have been more than enough to justify absorbing his contract into their cap space.

Update: Jamison isn’t the only frontcourt veteran the Clippers are dumping. Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times:

Look for the Clippers to be active in the free agent market. Jason Collins or Marcus Camby would be good fits, and forthcoming buyouts should add more viable candidates.
