The NBA recently eliminated the center position from the voting process, instead giving players either backcourt or frontcourt designations. In recent seasons, centers were voted in as starters over other players more deserving simply because it was required to fill the center position. Ironically, Howard (and Roy Hibbert in the East) are both in the middle of campaigns deserving of All-Star recognition this season.
Howard is in no danger of missing out on All-Star honors, however — he’s a lock to be voted in by the coaches as a reserve. This clip reminds us just how silly it is to complain about whether or not someone starts in a midseason exhibition that is for the fans to enjoy, more than anything else.
