No, still no timetable for Andrew Bynum. What, you expected one?

Andrew Bynum on the court and playing anywhere near his old self would be a game changer for the Cavaliers. That’s not really in doubt.

Bynum getting on the court and playing like his old self is where the doubt comes in.

After watching the public relations train wreck that was Philadelphia last season, the Cavaliers know better than to put a timeline on Bynum’s return (and they put clauses in his contract to save them money if he does not return). Cavaliers GM Chris Grant again danced around the date of Bynum’s return speaking with the Plain Dealer.

At this point, what is there left to say about Bynum?

I have no doubt he wants to get back on the court. He has always been more motivated by money than love of the game, but in this case there is a lot of money on the line if he does not return and play well. Whatever you choose to think of Bynum, you shouldn’t question his desire to get back and play.

But where the mind is willing is the flesh still weak? And even if he does get back and play well, how long a contract would any team really give him?

All interesting questions, which will be answered on Bynum’s timeline. Whatever it is.
