Report: Kyle Korver to Nets ‘in the bag’

The Nets were a below-average 3-point shooting team last season, and their 3-point percentage plummeted to a lowly 31.6 percent a first-round loss to the Bulls.

Paul Pierce should help, but Brooklyn could use even more outside shooting. Not only would it add points from a very efficient area, it would help space the floor.

Enter Kyle Korver, one of only two players who shot at least 41 percent on 3-points in each of the last four seasons. The other, Stephen Curry, isn’t available, so Korver must do, and apparently he will.

Marc Stein of ESPN:

With the taxpayer mid-level exception, the Nets can offer Korver a three-year contract worth just shy of $10 million total – $3,183,000, $3,326,235 and $3,469,470 in each of the next three seasons.

I’d think Korver, who made $5 million each of the last three years, can get a bigger offer elsewhere, but maybe he wants to join a potential contender. It certainly can’t hurt that the Nets have his one-time Jazz teammate and dodgeball partner, Deron Williams. This is definitely a reunion I can get excited about.
