Tony Parker to have “precautionary MRI” on his calf.

There is no need to panic Spurs fans.

Not yet.

Tony Parker has been playing through a sore calf for a while now and playing well — to the tune of 14 points and 18 assists in the Spurs overtime win Tuesday night.

But after the game he was limping a little around the locker room again, according to reports. So the Spurs have decided to be safe, reports Dan McCarney of the Express-News.

Parker and the Spurs have the advantage of being off until Saturday, plenty of time to rest old and sore bodies. (The reason for the long break is the NBA Finals are locked for a June 6 start, so the league needs to drag the second round out a little to prevent a long break.)

There is probably nothing new here, he’s been playing through it for weeks. But it’s a concern in that you can see what happens when he struggles — he was 2-of-8 with no assists in the fourth quarter, helping the Grizzlies comeback.
