Amar’e Stoudemire practices with Knicks, seems likely for Game 3

Just one game into the second round, the return of Amar’e Stoudemire to the Knicks seems far more important.

The Knicks need size to help combat the Pacers’ front line, so the return of Stoudemire to the rotation would be a big boost. Making it news that Stoudemire played in a 3-on-3 scrimmage in practice on Monday for the first time since knee surgery earlier in the season.

Afterwards Stoudemire spoke to the media and Howard Beck of the New York Times was there.

Woodson has already said Stoudemire will not return for Game 2, Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

How much help Stoudemire could offer remains to be seen, but the Knicks small-ball rotation that got them this far ran into trouble against the front line of Pacers with Roy Hibbert, David West and Paul George. Even 15 minutes a game off the bench from Stoudemire would be a boost as the Knicks are going to play more Kenyon Martin as they try to match up.
