Jeremy Pargo gets nod to start in place of Kyrie Irving

Well, that’s going to be a drop off.

No offense to Jeremy Pargo, but he is no Kyrie Irving. However, with Irving out for a month with a fractured finger, Pargo has been given the starting job in Cleveland, tweets Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal. That starts Wednesday night against Philadelphia.

Pargo has barely seen the court in Cleveland this season, only playing in two games. In 44 games last season for Memphis he averaged 2.9 points per game and shot just 33.3 percent overall and 26.3 percent from three. He averaged nearly as many turnovers as assists. He had a PER of 4.4.

But the Cavaliers don’t have a lot of choice. What they need to happen is Dion Waiters to find his shooting touch consistently (he’s hitting 38.8 percent on the year), for Tristan Thompson to play somewhere near his potential, for Anderson Varejao to keep going like he has been.

Plus they could use a miracle or two. And they have to trust in Pargo.
