Rasheed Wallace hits a three in first Knicks action (VIDEO)

It was quite a night for Knicks fans at Madison Square Garden. The home team blew out the defending world champion Heat, and the fans chanted their way into seeing Rasheed Wallace take the floor for the first time as a member of the Knicks.

Sheed isn’t yet in game shape, and isn’t likely to be playing heavy rotation minutes anytime soon. But in a blowout, with the fans loudly chanting his name, head coach Mike Woodson gave Wallace the option of checking in to get a few meaningless minutes in.

“You want to play, Rasheed?” Woodson asked. “You want to play some? Let’s go.”

Wallace gave the fans all they could want, draining a three after a pump fake with under a minute to play to push the Knicks lead back to 20.

Brian Scalabrine might be Wallace’s closest on-court comparison these days, but Knicks fans will take it at this early stage of the season.

This was a weird game for Miami; if you listened to the team’s quotes at the morning shootaround, it was obvious they weren’t really into it considering all that was going on in New York with people still struggling through the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
