Joakim Noah worked out with Kareem this summer

Joakim Noah doesn’t have what you would call a traditional low post game. No doubt he has touch around the rim and will out-work you for everything he can. He averaged 10.2 points a game on 50 percent shooting last season.

But this year, you might see a little more from him. Which is good because with Derrick Rose out for much of the year (and likely not quite his old self when he does get back) the Bulls could use the points.

Noah has spent the summer working out with NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six time MVP, six time NBA champ, all time leading NBA scorer, often overlooked in GOAT conversation). Noah said he was going to do this before the season and Gary Washburn of the Washington Post confirmed it on twitter.

I like this pairing. Remember when the Lakers brought in Kareem in to work with Andrew Bynum, and Bynum eventually grew tired of Kareem’s harping on his fundamentals? A summer of work on footwork, core post moves with counters and that kind of thing could really benefit Noah, who has the skills and energy to put them to good use.

We’ll see what happens, but it’s something to watch with Noah this season. He should get his touches.
