Ginobili hints he might play in 2014 World Championships

To answer your first question, 37.

That is how old Manu Ginobili will be in the summer of 2014 when the FIBA Basketball World Championships take place in Spain. Normally you would say that would be old enough to preclude him from playing, but after Ginobili at 35 was one of the best players at the London Olympics you might be wrong.

The Argentinian guard told that just missing out on a medal in London (Argentina finished fourth, losing a close bronze medal game to Russia) might fuel him to return.

“I never said I would continue, and I never said I would quit,” Ginobili said.

“There are still two years, it’s a long time. I don’t know how I will be and everything will depend on that. But I do know that I will be 37 and it’s not the same at that age as another age.”

Ginobili is the star of Argentina’s golden generation, along with Luis Scola, Carlos Delfino, Andres Nocioni and Pablo Prigioni. That group won the 2004 gold medal for Argentina, the only team other than the USA to win gold since the 1980s.

Don’t be surprised if they get the band back together for one more run. No matter everyone’s age.
