Matt Barnes, who played for the Lakers last season, was arrested in Manhattan Beach — an independent beach city in the South Bay area of Los Angeles where a number of players live and go out — and he resisted that arrest, according to NBCLA.com and broken by TMZ.

Here are the details from NBCLA:

Barnes has a $26,000 unpaid traffic warrant for driving with a suspended license, said Lt. Steve Tobias with Manhattan Beach police. It was not immediately clear why Barnes’ license was suspended…

An officer who was aware that Barnes had an outstanding warrant saw him on foot and took him into custody, Tobias told City News Service, adding that Barnes threatened the officer while he was being arrested.

Barnes was walking in the heart of downtown Manhattan Beach when this happened, according to reports. Police say he was not cooperative.

Barnes was bailed out just before midnight local time, he paid the $26,000 in traffic fines and another $25,000 bail for resisting arrest.

Barnes played for the Lakers last season but is currently a free agent.
