C.J. Watson has gone from backing up one of the best point guards in the game to backing up one of the best point guards in the game.

With the Bulls the past couple seasons, Watson has inked a deal with the Nets to back up Deron Williams, according to Stephan Bondy of the New York Daily News. This was expected and is reportedly a two-year deal at the veteran minimum.

Watson played a backup role for the Bull behind Rose but started 25 games in his absence last season, averaging 11.3 points and 4.6 assists per game. He’s not the most efficient player out there — he shot just 36.8 percent overall but did hit 39 percent from three, and his turnover rate was a little high — but as a backup he is a good fit. He’s aggressive and the fans of Brooklyn will like him.

Meanwhile, the Bulls “Bench Mob” gets a little weaker.
