There were not a lot of highlights for the Spurs in Game 3 against Thunder, it was a rout.
However, at one point Tim Duncan passed Kareem Abdul-Jabar for most blocks ever in the playoffs. It’s an impressive accomplishment — 477 blocks in the playoffs alone. It’s something KAJ congratulated Duncan for on twitter the next day.
To be fair, the NBA didn’t start counting playoff blocks until 1974, so he played in four postseasons — including a championship one — where we don’t know how many shots he sent back. Although you can bet it was plenty. Plus none of Bill Russell’s or Wilt Chamberlain’s blocks were counted.
But let’s not take away from what Duncan has accomplished. He is maybe the best power forward ever to play the game and his blocks and career deserve the acknowledgment.
