Carmelo Anthony day-to-day with groin injury

The Knicks were without Amare Stoudemire (out indefinitely with bulging disc in back) and Jeremy Lin (day-to-day with sore right knee), which meant even more of the scoring load fell to Carmelo Anthony Monday. He did his part, scoring a game-high 28 and leading the Knicks to a crucial win.

But he also injured his groin making a spin move late in the third quarter. He played through it, grimacing a lot in the fourth quarter, and he will be re-evaluated Tuesday, he said after the game to

“I don’t think it’s too bad; I just want to take it day by day,” Anthony said. “Tomorrow, [I’ll] get re-evaluated and see what happens from there…

“It aches a little bit right now. If I had to play tomorrow, I probably would,” Anthony said after scoring 28 points on 8-for-20 shooting against Milwaukee. “But we’ll see how it feels tomorrow.”

Earlier this season Anthony missed seven games when he strained the same groin muscle.

The Knicks play the Magic on Wednesday and the Hawks Friday. Lin is expected to return for those games. We’ll see about Anthony.
