Report: Kyrylo Fesenko to sign with Pacers for rest of season

With backup big man — and fan favorite — Jeff Foster forced to retire due to ongoing back issues, the Indiana Pacers are in the market for a big man. (But who isn’t in the NBA?)

Enter Kyrylo Fesenko. The former Jazz backup big will sign in Indiana for the rest of the season, according to Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated.

The 7-foot, 290-pounder from the Ukraine spent his first four seasons with Utah in a limited role, although he started for the injured Mehmet Okur last postseason and showed his worth as a defender and rebounder.

Fesenko had knee surgery after last season but is reportedly fully recovered now. He wasn’t far enough along with recovery in December for the Warriors to sign him to a deal despite the two sides having talked.

This is a nice signing for the Pacers, pretty much filling Foster’s shoes on the court. But not in fans’ hearts. Yet, anyway.
