There are usually some real head scratchers when the NBA All-Star Ballot is released, mostly because due to printing logistics the players are selected well before the season starts. Good rookies or breakout players can get left off, injured players are on the list.
But this year things were pretty good, not a lot of obvious oversights.
The one that made people chuckle — you can vote for Heat center Joel Anthony to represent the East. That would be the guy averaging 3.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in Miami. A shot block specialist who is probably the third best shot blocker on his own team.
Anthony doesn’t get it either, he told the Palm Beach Post of his reaction when he heard he was on the ballot.
“I didn’t think they were serious,” Anthony said….
“I don’t know what to say,” Anthony said. “I definitely appreciate it, that they would take me into consideration.”
While there will be a twitter campaign to get Anthony in, the East’s starting center will be Dwight Howard… unless he gets traded to the Lakers. Then the door is wide open for Anthony.
