Cavaliers Antawn Jamison out 5-7 weeks with broken finger

Because the Cavaliers season hasn’t been rough enough, when they had finally won three of their last five and had a couple quality wins, you get this….

Antawn Jamison, the Cavaliers leading scorer, will be out at least five weeks following surgery on his left pinkie finger due to an injury he suffered Sunday. The surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, the team announced.

With seven weeks left in the NBA regular season, this could mean the end of Jamison this season.

Jamison was hit on the hand while taking a shot in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Sixers. He immediately left the court and did not return.

Jamison led the Cavaliers with 18 points per game and was often the team’s go-to scorer in the clutch. He also was third team in rebounding at 6.7 points per game, and he had the second best PER on the team (behind Ramon Sessions). He was the stable veteran presence keeping the effort up most games in a situation that would have worn a lot of other players down.

Well, this is really Baron Davis’ team now. It should be interesting. Possibly in a train wreck kind of way, but interesting.
