The Oklahoma City Thunder have announced that they have recalled rookie center Cole Aldrich from the D-League. Aldrich was the 11th overall pick in the 2010 draft. He has appeared in seven games for the Thunder this season, and averaged 1 point and 1.9 rebounds per game. In 19 games with the Tulsa 66ers, Aldrich averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game.
If the Thunder can get some production out of Aldrich at the NBA level, it would provide a huge boost to their team. According to Hoopdata.com, only the Raptors allow more baskets at the rim per game than the Thunder, and B.J. Mullens has yet to do anything at the NBA level. The Thunder have two great players in Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, and 2009 #3 pick James Harden is well on his way to being a solid supporting player for many years to come. But if the team wants to get to the next level, they’ll have to get something out of players like Aldrich.
