Remember when Charlie Villanueva tweeted that Kevin Garnett crossed the line saying he looked like a cancer patient? And Garnett defended himself by saying no, I called you a cancer to your team and the league? Ahh, those were the days.
Cancer patients found the entire thing pretty distasteful. Rightfully.
Nuggets coach George Karl is a cancer survivor, back on the court this season after having to miss the second half of last season to fight throat cancer.
Garnett went up to Karl after the game and talked to him about the comments.
“I went up to him as a man, and what I said is that I had nothing personal toward him nor any other cancer patient that was out there struggling, dealing with life situations,” Garnett said. “I wanted to say that to him, man-to-man.”
“I appreciate that he took the time to do it,” he said. “Kevin has always been one of my favorite players.”
Now let us put this ugliness behind us.
