According to Ross Siler of the Salt Lake Tribune, Deron Williams has been told to rest his injured wrist this off-season, and Williams hopes the injury will not require surgery. If Williams does end up getting surgery on the wrist, he will likely miss the World Championships this summer.
Williams completely dominated the Jazz’s first-round series with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 25.8 points and 11.2 assists per game on 49.4% shooting from the field and 48.1% from beyond the arc. He was significantly quieter in the series with the Lakers, averaging 22 points and 8.8 assists per game on 38.7% shooting from the field and 29.2% from three-point range. USA Basketball could be a great experience for Williams, but the Jazz will certainly be far from pleased if their franchise player isn’t 100% healthy to start the year because of his Team USA commitment.
