Was there ever really an Al Harrington era in New York? If so, it is over.
He is done for the season and will undergo shoulder surgery on Thursday, something Alan Hahn of Newsday had first.
Harrington has a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder and was told surgery likely but couldn’t damage it more. According to team, Harrington will undergo shoulder surgery tomorrow with a recovery time of 3-4 months. Explains why he didn’t wait.
Harrington is a free agent this summer, and there is just almost no chance he will come back to the Knicks. The 12-year veteran primarily came off the bench for New York this season, giving them 17.7 points in 30 minutes per game. His shooting percentages were decent and he provided a nice spark. It all would have been fine if he were not making $10 million this season.
Next season he will have to move, take a pay cut and prove he is healthy, but someone will offer Harrington a one year (or one year with a team option for two) contract. The man can still score. The league is still about scoring.
