According to the Associated Press, Miami Heat guard Carlos Arroyo has been arrested for resisting arrest. Here’s the full AP story:

“CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Miami Heat point guard Carlos Arroyo has been charged with resisting arrest after police say he was pulled over for driving suspiciously.
The Coral Gables Police Department reports that a motorcycle officer made several attempts to pull Arroyo over Friday morning. After Arroyo was stopped, police say he refused to get out of his vehicle several times before complying.
Arroyo was charged with operating a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to block traffic, failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest without violence.
Miami Heat President Pat Riley declined to comment on the arrest and the team did not know whether he had an attorney.”

Arroyo has averaged 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 17 minutes per game this season for the Heat, Arroyo’s seventh NBA team. The native of Puerto Rico a talented and creative playmaker when he’s on his game. One of the best moments of Arroyo’s basketball career came outside of the NBA, when he led Puerto Rico to a 92-73 upset of the United States team in the 2004 Olympics.

However, Arroyo has had trouble staying on NBA teams thanks to a lack of discipline on the court at times. Unfortunately, it appears that Arroyo may have stepped out of line off the court this time. Thankfully, nobody appears to have been hurt in this incident. Hopefully Arroyo can learn from this mistake, whatever it may have been.
