Brandon Armstrong does Manu Ginobili impression โ€” and Manu loves it

Brandon Armstrong, the master of NBA imitationsย (James Harden, Russell Westbrook, JaVale McGee and others) took on a new target:

Manu Ginobili.

And Ginobili loved it.

He’s not the first, Westbrook cracked up at his, too.

I can’t wait to see Armstrong try to do Shawn Marion’s jumper some day… oh wait, he’s done that.

Ty Lawson on coming to Houston: “It’s definitely a breath of fresh air”

Sacramento Kings v Denver Nuggets

It’s the single biggest question about Houston’s key offseason acquisition, Ty Lawson:

It a change of scenery and a fresh start what he needs to conquer his personal demons?

This is a man who had two DUIs inside of seven months and just got out of a rehab facility. He has baggage. But some around the point guard said he would change in a new situation and on a winning team where he had responsibility. Houston provides that opportunity.

Lawson also is the kind of dynamic playmaker the Rockets needed to help out James Harden, who had to carry a ridiculous load in Houston last season.ย Lawson echoed that saying the move to Houston is what he needed, he told Fox News 26.

“Oh yeah for sure,” Lawson said. “I was like before I even came to the team I was talking to James. I was like ‘man get me over there.’ I’ll be that piece to (help) get over the hump. It’s definitely a breath of fresh air….

“I feel like last year watching the playoffs, they definitely need another playmaker,” Lawson said. “You could tell James got a little bit tired. He had to come down and score and make passes every time on the court. So I just want to relieve a little bit of pressure for him the best way I can.”

For Lawson personally I hope this move and this situation are what he needs to get his life in order.

He certainly brings some shot creation and up-tempo play that the Rockets could use. His skill set bumps the Rockets up to true contender status. However, it’s going to take some experimentation by Kevin McHale to find lineups that will keep Houston in the top 10 defensively โ€” playing Lawson and Harden together could supercharge the offense but creates defensive holes. Dwight Howard covers some of that, but not all.

McHale has time to figure it all out โ€”ย Houston should be a lock as a playoff team and win plenty of games. But they are going to need to be better just to get back to where they were last season in a stacked West.

Dwight Howard says James Harden is the best left handed shooter ever

James Harden

Dwight Howard was on Twitter Monday asking questions, for example, “who is the GOAT?” He said you had to choose between Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, or Bill Russell. It’s all good fun.

Then he asked and answered a question on lefties:

As in James Harden. Howard’s Rocket teammate.

Which was interesting because the above-mentioned Russell is a leftie, and someone called Howard out on it. So Howard changed his tune.

I’d personally go with Chris Mullin as a shooter if we’re naming lefties.

Harden might not even be a starter on my all-time left-handed team.

Center: Bill Russell (reserves David Robinson, Artis Gilmore)
Power Forward: Dave Cowens
Small forward: Chris Mullin
Shooting guard: Gail Goodrich (Harden is in discussion with Manu Ginobili)
Point guard: Nate “Tiny” Archibald

Based God Curse this: Lil B accepts invitation to try out for Sixers D-League team

2015 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 1 - Day 1

I think I know how James Harden and Kevin Durant are hoping this turns out…

Lil B says James Harden stole his “cooking dance” and threw the Based God Curse on him (although he since has said he lifted the curse on the beard), now the rapper gets to show off his game and if he’s good enough to do that dance in game. Because we know Harden backs it up.

Lilย B has accepted an invitation to try out for the Delaware 87ers, the D-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers (hat tip The Fader).

People are already hyping Lil B.

You know if it turns out Lil B can ball and makes the team, Sixers GM Sam Hinkie will sign him and trade him for two future second rounders.

I wouldn’t count on the rapper suiting up for the 87ers this season โ€” the most a full-time D-League player makes is $25,000, which would be a pretty steep pay cut I would guess.

But the tryouts just got a lot more entertaining โ€” especially if the Based God Curse hits the 87ers opponents.

Happy Birthday James Harden, we’ve got his top 10 of 2014-15 (VIDEO)

What do you buy James Harden for his birthday? I’m guessing beard moisturizer.

Happy 26th birthday to the Beard, who likely will celebrate with Khloe Kardashian somewhere expensive, trailed by paparazzi. We’re going to celebrate more quietly (and at less cost) here at PBT looking back at Harden’s best plays of last season.
