Lakers to open against OKC, host Bulls on Christmas Day

If you’re into the whole good news/bad news thing, then this is the place for you.  The good news is, the NBA is going ahead with releasing its schedule for the 2011-12 season, and doing so Tuesday at 2 p.m. Eastern.

The bad news, as we’re all well aware at this point, is that there may not be a season at all, depending on what happens with negotiations between the owners and the players’ union on a new collective bargaining agreement.

Semantics! In the latest (and likely final) leak of information before the schedule is officially announced, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times hips us to the opening night and Christmas Day matchups that the Lakers will be facing in the team’s first season under the Mike Brown regime in Los Angeles.

NBA to release sked for next season Tues despite lockout. Lakers would open Nov 1 vs OKC at home. Lakers host Bulls Christmas Day.

As we mentioned when we told you about the Knicks hosting the Celtics, the Lakers traditionally play on Christmas, and the Bulls — being in a large market, and having the reigning MVP in Derrick Rose on the roster — were a lock to be penciled in to play on the day the league uses to showcase its top teams.

All we need now is a labor agreement to get hammered out in time for these games to actually be played as scheduled.
