Red hot Ray McCallum leads Sacramento Kings to Summer League title with 77-68 win against Houston

You know how you could tell Ray McCallum was hot?

Well, the 29 points is in the Summer League championship game was a pretty good indication. There was his ridiculous running fourth quarter buzzer beating three to beat the shot clock.

But really it was when he did a Jordan shrug you knew he was not going to let the Sacramento Kings lose to the Houston Rockets in the championship game of the Summer League. The Kings beat the Rockets 77-68 to win the title.

The Kings rolled out a veteran lineup by Summer League standards with guys who have NBA experience such as McCallum, Quincy Acy, Ben McLemore, MarShon Brooks and others getting run. But it was McCallum who was key, attacking off picks, keeping the offense flowing.

The Kings also got 10 points out of rookie Nik Stauskas, who should have Ben McLemore concerned about minutes come the fall. Ra’shad James had a dozen points on 4-of-7 shooting.

Houston got another big game from Dontas Motiejunas, who has been fantastic all Summer League and had 16 points. Isaiah Canaan added 17 and Nick Johnson chipped in 15 for Houston.

Against the Pacers last night, James Ennis missed all three of his 3-point attempts… that counted. And he makes this one after fouling out?

Mike Conley more than picked up the slack to lead the Grizzlies to victory.

The Pelicans are effectively out of the playoff race, but Dante Cunningham and Anthony Davis are still competing — even if it looks a little silly.

That tone and a big game from DeMarcus Cousins (29 points, 16 rebounds, six assists) led to a 121-118 win over the Mavericks.

Goran Dragic is very good at alley-oops.

Too good.

With a “shot” like that falling, the Heat trounced the Knicks, 105-88.

Hawks’ Tim Hardaway Jr. kneed in the groin while defending 76ers (video)

Since trading for him, the Hawks have gotten Tim Hardaway Jr. to buy in defensively.

After this help defense on 76ers center Richaun Holmes cost him dearly, I wouldn’t blame Hardaway if he gave up on the endeavor entirely.
