Question: What do you get when you cross a passionate fan base with a terrible team playing in a dump of an arena?
Answer: A willingness to set a world record for noise, apparently.
We told you this was coming — the folks at Guinness World Records were on hand in Sacramento on Friday, and had their measurement tools in place to see if the Kings fans in attendance could scream their a–es off in order to break a record for indoor noise.
There’s a reason that the folks at Guinness chose Sacramento — good fans and an acoustically-challenged older building made it a no-brainer that once the proposal was made, it would be met with ease and expectations would be quickly exceeded.

Call me cynical, but it seems like most arenas that are sold out for a nationally televised game could similarly break this record under the right circumstances. Whether that’s true or not, it’s something positive for Kings fans to be proud of, at least until the product on the court proves worthy of their unwavering admiration.
