Rockets make Ronnie Brewer signing official

There are a lot of interesting ingredients in Houston, but how the final dish turns out remains to be seen.

The latest of those interesting pickups is Ronnie Brewer, and that deal with the Rockets has become official, the team announced.

Brewer is a good defensive wing who uses very little in terms of offense. That made him a good fit for Tom Thibodeau in Chicago next to Derrick Rose, but not so much with Mike Woodson and the Knicks last season. After getting back from a knee injury Brewer started 34 games for New York but saw his role diminish (and the Knicks got Iman Shumpert back). New York traded Brewer to Oklahoma City, but he was barely used there.

Brewer will come off the bench in Houston and could find a niche there. Like we said he defends well, and on offense he works hard off the ball and can knock down a midrange shot or find a good baseline cut to get a bucket.

Houston has a lot of new faces, guys that can play (starting with Dwight Howard). The challenge in Houston is how all of them fit in the up-tempo, push-the-pace, pick-and-roll heavy offense they ran last season in Houston. The offense will evolve, but it could take some time to figure out how all these ingredients make a good dish.

Bradley Beal drives around, dunks over Kristaps Porzingis (VIDEO)

If you’re a Knicks fan, the positive is that at least Kristaps Porzingis tried to make a play.

But he was not going to stop the athletic Bradley Beal with a full head of steam, and the result was a Beal dunking over Porzingis as he tries to block the attempt.

Beal wasn’t sharp, scoring 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting. The Knicks has an efficient Carmelo Anthony and that got them the win.
