Lamar Odom

Report: Lakers not all that sold on Lamar Odom

For a while it seemed likely that the Lamar Odom would find his way back to Los Angeles with either the Clippers or Lakers.

The Clippers have seemed to move on — they have Blake Griffin, Jared Dudley, Matt Barnes, Byron Mullens and Ryan Hollins who can play the forward spot. Interest there appears dead.

So then what about the Lakers… that doesn’t seem close, tweets the well connected Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register.

Why is Lamar Odom coming around? He doesn’t have options.

But the Lakers are right to be leery — this is not the Sixth Man of the Year Odom. He had an unimpressive PER of 10.9 last season with the Clippers, and a PER of 9.2 the year with the Mavericks before that. After a couple seasons like that, why think he will even be an average player now? Plus, he and his wife are going through a tabloid-covered marital issue that would bring a different dynamic to the locker room.

The Lakers are bringing in 6’7” four Elias Harris (formerly of Gonzaga, drafted late in the second round) and while his deal is not guaranteed they are giving him a healthy buyout, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. There is interest there.

The Lakers have a roster spot or two left to hand out, but they apparently are not interested in making Odom that guy.

Miami is going to be a lot of fun to watch this season (if they can stay healthy).

They’ve got athletic, active players who want to run, who move off the ball, and they have good passers. For example, watch Chris Bosh go between the legs to Dwyane Wade in the Heat’s preseason game Sunday.

Bosh had 14 points, and Wade had a dozen, but Charlotte won the exhibition.

The Clippers went north of the border to take on the Raptors in an exhibition game, but it was on the West Coast of Canada in one of the world’s prettiest cities — Vancouver. The two played at the Rogers Arena.

Where, they may want to upgrade the shot clocks behind the backboards. Watch over the shoulder of the Clippers announcers as Griffin dunks in warmups.

Notice that DeAndre Jordan loves this.

Nice to see Griffin dunking like his old self again. If you want another view, the NBA retweeted this.
